Employees of LNG production company Atlantic all wore red as part of the company's celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of T&T. Staff at the company's offices in Port-of-Spain and Point Fortin gathered for commemorative group photographs and shared with each other their reflections on the nation's historic milestone. Donna Woon Sam, administrative assistant in the human resources department said to colleagues that she was very young on the occasion of T&T's first Independence Day. "I feel very proud to be Trinbagonian and this is a proud moment in the history of our nation. We need to be proud of who we are and where we have come from, especially how quickly we got here. "As a small nation we moved very fast in terms of our development-economic, structurally, all the changes that have been wrought over the years-and personally I feel we can compare to some of the bigger nations in the world." Other initiatives for the 50th anniversary included Atlantic's Got Talent, a talent variety show featuring employees and contractors which raised funds for Rainbow Rescue in support of its work in providing care and rehabilitation to socially-displaced and at-risk youth.
