Friday has become the day that sees a stream of Port-of-Spain's less fortunate looking out for hot meals from the Digicel/Salvation Army Kitchen-where Digicel staff work side by side with members of the Salvation Army to prepare sumptuous soup.
The Digicel Foundation/Salvation Army Soup Feeding Programme, which began in July, provides soup lunches to scores of homeless people in the City each week.
In a release, Digicel's CEO John Delves who worked along with his staff in serving the meals to the many appreciative recipients on November 30, said, "The programme is a tangible way for Digicel through our Foundation, to contribute towards a basic need of the homeless and to get our staff into the culture of giving back to the community."
The programme will run every Friday with the support of Digicel volunteers, until the end of the year. Digicel has also provided shelving for the Salvation Army Kitchen so that the facility would become more functional, efficient and useful to the community.
