In celebration of Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day, the New Horizons Fraternity will host the 11th annual Spiritual Shouter Baptist Thanksgiving service at La Joya Auditorium, St Joseph on March 29. Led by Reverend Anthony Clarke, New Horizons was founded in 2002 and has approximately 40 dedicated members of its orientation arm.
At this year's service the feature speakers are former energy minister Conrad Enill and SWWTU president Michael Annisette.
According to Clarke, who visited the T&T Guardian on Monday for an interview, the event is nationwide gathering of brothers and sisters of the Baptist faith and other spiritual traditions. Other invited guests and speakers include Bishop Roderick Noble, Pastor Frank Lewis, Overseer Clyde Noel of twelve Tribes and Araba Owo Isa sayo of the Orisha faith and others. Performers at the event include Mt Bethlehem Spiritual Baptist Choir, St Crispin Baptist Choir and The William Sisters of Chaguanas.
Clarke said the thanksgiving also celebrates his calling into priesthood. He added that the organisation is also trying to get society back on the right track. According to Clarke, the country is crime riddled and not performing well academically. A paper dealing with the history of Holy naming will be distributed at the event. It is one of many published by New Horizons who also publish an astrological Spiritual Baptist Calendar. He also said New Horizons was working on getting licences for a television channel and radio station.
The service is free and open to the public. Proceedings are from 1 pm to 10 pm.
