This year's Indian Arrival Breakfast–Chokha Fest 3–to be held on May 5, at Nu Image Simplex Complex in Princes Town, promises to be a very exciting event with seven Chokhas and Sada roti. Ramash Ramsumair, proprietor of Nu Image Simplex Complex, and TAPASYA will host the 2013 edition of Chokha Fest.
Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9 am, followed by a short programme that highlights aspects of East Indian culture. Minister of National Diversity and Social Integration Dr Clifton De Couteau will address the gathering after participating in breakfast with attendees. As the name of his ministry indicates, De Couteau is expected to address issues relating to Indian Arrival Day, diversity and integration.
Among the other speakers on the programme will be featured presenter Seeta Persad, journalist, playwright and dancer who will speak on Preserving and Promoting East Indian Culture in Trinidad in the 21st Century.
Other presenters include Loaknath Dube, Shamshu Deen, Louis Homer, Dr Kris Rampersad, Siddhartha Orie, Aarti Janki and Doolarchan Hanoomansingh.
Dube will relate the story of an indentured immigrant while Deen, an eminent genealogist, will speak on family reunions. Homer, a Heritage specialist, will speak about the oldest Temple in Trinidad (which incidentally is located in Princes Town) and the need to preserve such edifices.
