As it was last year, wed­ding in­vi­ta­tions will con­tin­ue to be­come more cus­tomised in 2013. More at­ten­tion will be giv­en to the "re­cep­ta­cle" of the in­vi­ta­tion–whether it's in an op­u­lent en­ve­lope, pouch or box.

Here are some more in­vi­ta­tion ideas that are trend­ing right now:Colours–This year in­vi­ta­tion hues will fo­cus on neu­trals such as grey and navy. Pops of colour such as yel­low and coral will ac­cent these neu­trals. The Pan­tone Colour In­sti­tute's se­lec­tion for 2013, is emer­ald green. This shade will be seen ei­ther as an ac­cent or a main colour on in­vi­ta­tions. Oth­er pop­u­lar colours will be jade, mint and cop­per.

The "East Meets West" theme will al­so be trendy; and so we will see gem­stone colours on in­vi­ta­tions, with com­bi­na­tions such as teal and pur­ple to­geth­er, or or­ange and fuch­sia."Con­tain­er-hap­py"–In 2013, the con­tain­ers that in­vi­ta­tions ar­rive in will per­haps be even more luxe than the in­vi­ta­tion it­self! Silk en­velopes and fab­ric box­es that hold in­vi­ta­tions are hot trends at the mo­ment.

There will even be cou­ples who will want to try a "sto­ry­book" in­vi­ta­tion–fea­tur­ing their love sto­ry, bound in a book form. This would be ide­al for a des­ti­na­tion wed­ding, where de­tails such as trav­el tips and ac­com­mo­da­tion can al­so be housed in the sto­ry book.Tex­tures ga­lore–The touch and feel of in­vi­ta­tions this year will be sure to de­light the sens­es. Wo­ven pa­per, lace el­e­ments, laser cut de­tails (which can repli­cate lace, flo­ral, na­ture or iron­work pat­terns) and the use of em­bell­ish­ments such as crys­tal brooches and buck­les will be seen.

Retro 1920s–The 1920s is a huge in­flu­encer on de­sign styles this year. You will see hints of it through the use of flo­ral mo­tifs and bold, geo­met­ric shapes and lines. De­signs such as the sun­burst pat­tern and chevron (a zigzag repet­i­tive pat­tern) which were wide­ly used dur­ing the 1920s, will al­so ap­pear on in­vi­ta­tions. Colours that evoke this era are soft pinks, cham­pagne, gold, ivory, black and white.

De­tails–In­vi­ta­tions will be ac­cent­ed with hand-drawn de­tails, un­usu­al fonts, pat­terned in­vi­ta­tion lin­ers, foil stamp­ing and mo­tifs such as sil­hou­ettes of the cou­ple, build­ings or the hori­zon. Cus­tom mono­grams will con­tin­ue to be pop­u­lar.
