Edgar "Eddie" Van Der Hilst, a Surinamese linguist and social worker, delivered the feature address on Emancipation and Assimilation in Suriname.Guests were dressed impressively in traditional African wear and were treated to a live performance by Duane O'Connor, former national calypso monarch, as they enjoyed the many creole dishes which were served on the night.
