Coast to Coast Shipping Company Limited (CCSCL) celebrated its first year of successful operations by treating the children of the Florence Foundation Wesleyan Children's Home in Freeport last week. For 13-year-old Anthony Sealy, it was a heart-warming experience. "It makes us feel really special when people visit the home and spend time with the children. The younger ones are especially excited because of the goodies and we all just enjoy sharing a good time together. The people from Coast to Coast were really nice and we enjoyed their visit and hope to see them again soon," Sealy said.
Led by the director of operations, Kishan Ramoutar, CCSCL presented the children with party bags filled with snacks and toys, providing pizza for dinner. It was a double joy for Ramoutar who celebrated his birthday on the same day."As a company marking one year of operations, we decided that sharing an evening with these youngsters was how we should mark this benchmark achievement. Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of life, we forget that it is our duty to share our success and give back to society."This is especially true for the children who do not get to enjoy the simple joys that we often take for granted. Their laughter and happy faces today were also the best birthday gifts I could hope to get."
In existence for the past 18 years, the Florence Foundation Wesleyan Children's Home provides a home and support for children until they reach age 18. The centre is home to nine children, ranging from two-and-a-half years old to 16. It is run by matron, Cynthia Thompson, who is assisted by two care-givers."We operate on the support and love of the Wesleyan Church, as well as donations from individuals and companies. This evening was really special for the children and they enjoyed interacting with the people from Coast to Coast. Gestures such as these keep their spirits high and they really enjoy playing and interacting with visitors. We hope that other people take pattern and give their support to these and other wonderful children in homes across the country," Thompson explained.Couva-based Coast to Coast provides expertise in various services, including customs brokerage, transshipment, immigration, work permits, land transportation, import and export of vessels, offshore installation, crew management and "meet and greet" services.
