Treat in store for Penal kids
Santa Claus will visit Penal on December 22, as the Penal Rock Road 2km Village Council stages its ninth annual Christmas parade and Children’s treat.
The council's public relations officer Seeram Roopnarine, in a in interview with the T&T Guardian yesterday said members were happy to continue the tradition of treating children in the area.
“In the years before we never had a Christmas treat. It is a big area and we wanted to reach out to the children,” he said.
He said since the first year the parade has continued to grow in popularity and children look forward to having Santa Claus come to their village.
The parade and toy distribution begins at 8am at King’s Bridge, Penal and ends in the Sou Sou Lands area.
Roopnarine said the council “depends on the generosity of businesspeople in the area” and they cater for 400 children.
People wishing to contribute to the treat can call 351-3952 or 761-6414.
