The 2014 International Power Soca Monarch Machel Montano will give the keynote address at the 40th Annual Florida Caribbean Students Association Leadership Conference on April 5 at Miami Dade College, Florida.
The theme of the conference which is hosted by the Miami Dade College Tropical Beat CSA and the Florida Caribbean Students Association (FCSA) is Empowering the Next Generation of Caribbean Leaders.
The conference will welcome over 700 college students of Caribbean descent from Florida and around the United States to participate in leadership and professional development workshops geared toward the enhancement and empowerment of the next generation of Caribbean student leaders.
According to a release from the organisers, supporting the region's young people is one of Montano's passions. He has supported or organised numerous charitable concerts, including the Children's Life Fund, Eastern Caribbean Flood Relief efforts in St Vincent and the Sea Lots Project in Port-of-Spain. His professional and business acumen has also created a number of entrepreneurial opportunities for members of his team and others throughout the Caribbean region.
"We are truly excited to hear from one of the Caribbean's legendary music voices. His passion, commitment, and contributions to Caribbean music, arts, and culture reach across generations. We look forward to his inspiration for our leadership journey," said FCSA president, Fabrice Stuart.
The FCSA provides a statewide platform of leadership development, civic engagement, community service and cultural awareness among college and university students of Caribbean descent throughout Florida. The 2014 Conference will explore the cultural, leadership and civic engagement in the Caribbean community.
