T&T continues to foster key relationships with our Caribbean neighbours within the growing regional fashion industry, as two local models are due to participate in the popular St Lucia Hot Couture Fashion Showcase this week. Hosted in conjunction with the St Lucia Tourist Board, this Fashion Extravaganza is held as part of the internationally acclaimed St Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival.
This year, prominent models Soowan Bramble and Athaliah Samuel are scheduled to fly to the capital city of Castries to participate in this fashion showcase. Both models have expressed excitement at the opportunity to represent their country on a regional and international scale, and have expressed gratitude to the St Lucian government and organisers who have facilitated this opportunity, including Runway Director of HOT Couture and Trinidadian-born Fashion impresario, Richard Young.
According to Young in a release: "The inclusion of models from T&T in the prestigious Hot Couture Fashion Event–a signature and pivotal component of the St Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival–signals the metamorphosis of an all-inclusive creative arts showpiece, and also speaks to the building of a true regional cultural industry platform." Young also says that he is proud of our dynamic models that will certainly lend a professional and experienced element to the overall look of the show.
Recognised for her flawless, mahogany skin, carved physique & unmistakable form on the runway, Athaliah Samuel has certainly become one of the most accomplished models in the Caribbean. Samuel has walked the runway for notable Caribbean designers, such as Claudia Pegus, Peter Elias and Sonia Noel of Guyana. She took part in the recently concluded Cayman Islands Fashion Week 2014.
Soowan Bramble is one of T&T's most in-demand models. In addition to being a full-time fashion sketch muse at the Caribbean Academy of Fashion & Design at UTT, Bramble also has held the title of the inaugural Best Model of the Universe, a competition that she won in Panama in 2013. She has been the official face for She Magazine, and has graced the runway and multimedia campaigns for a myriad of designers, including Heather Jones, Gillian Harding of the USA, Rhion Romany and Noorulani Agha of India.
St Lucia Hot Couture will be held on May 7 and features a full, quality runway presentation from some of the foremost names in Caribbean fashion, as well as an international calibre trunk show from the slated designers.
