People who are alone and vulnerable over Christmas have been given a helping hand by employees at Global Medical Response of T&T (GMRTT). Twenty hampers containing beef hams, chocolates and more, were handed out this week by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to selected families they encountered in the course of their duties throughout the year.
A release said those who received hampers included people who have been victims of acute respiratory attacks, injured children, elderly and the disabled.Quintin Britto and Andrea Alexander spearheaded the annual committee this year and admitted that the last few days have been an emotional journey."The feedback we received from those who were given hampers was really heartwarming. A few of them live on their own and said they don't have any family, so we were glad to be able to make a positive difference to their lives this Christmas," Britto added.
The duo has been a part of this tradition since it started eight years ago under the name Charlie's Angels and say it's something they hope to continue in the years to come."When we started under Charlie's Angels, we did it to give back to the children we would have assisted by holding a party for them. We couldn't host the party anymore, but we still wanted to spread Christmas cheer and this is how this hamper drive started," Alexander explained.
