Artist Che Lovelace has launched a series of innovative event-exhibitions, which are unique one-night events at his studio space in Macqueripe on December 27.
Art enthusiasts happily make the journey to Chaguaramas since the environment is as much a part of the event as the artwork projected onto screens that span either side of the building.
In a release, Lovelace explains his project, titled ECHo–A Digital Chronology, as "an innovative event that promises to put forward a unique and groundbreaking framework by which art can be presented as a dynamic interactive environment that engages the audience in fresh new ways."
The central premise of the premiere event was to present Lovelace's 20-year journey as an artist with a visual chronology of his work via the monumental projection of images onto several large screens erected at Studio CL.
An important aspect of the ECHo project is that it contains a youth outreach component that is integrated into its overall structure, introducing children to the practice of visual art.
For this inaugural installment of ECHo, Lovelace worked with primary school students from the Point Cumana Government School. "Art introduces children to the potential of their imagination. By offering youngsters the opportunity to explore and nurture this aspect of their personality, we contribute to a more balanced development of their intellect and their creativity," says Lovelace as he explains the motivation behind having an educational feature within the ECHo project.
Partnering with North Eleven Media, Lovelace's intention is to turn ECHo into a series that showcase the creative achievements of other artists while always including youth art workshops as an integral part of the programme.
He is encouraged by the enthusiastic support of the main corporate sponsors National Gas Company, First Citizens Bank, TSTT, Petrotrin and Republic Bank that contributed to a programme which celebrates creativity while offering mentorship to a new generation of artists.
