Raeann Guerra was crowned calypso champion when the Tyro Sports Club held its first Calypso Competition at the Bourg Mulatresse Gabba Ground in Santa Cruz on February 1.
Guerra won $1,200 and a trophy for the top prize, while Ronald Greaves ($800/trophy) and Alisha Williams ($500/trophy) came second and third respectively.
Guerra was the joint winner of the People's Choice Award with Ruston De Freitas, who finished sixth in the calypso competition. They both took home $200 and a trophy. De Freitas was also crowned the Road March King, winning a further $200 and a trophy.
Tyro Sports Club has been hosting football, cricket and all fours competitions for many years and this year, decided to try its hand at a calypso competition.
