Exuding charm, beauty and poise, Shunica Longdon was crowned Miss Central Trinidad 2015 at the pageant presented by the Couva Carnival Committee (CCC) on February 14–Valentine's Night.
Sponsored by Advanced Colour Shop, Longdon just edged out first runner-up, Kerry Anne Layne (Miss New India Assurance), with Kia Rigues (Miss Trinsulate2 Caribbean) capturing second runner-up position.
A release from the CCC said an elated Longdon, 25, of Barataria, was thrilled to take home the prestigious title of Miss Central Trinidad. "It was a great experience and it has given me confidence to tackle the challenges that come my way," she said.
Longdon also copped two of the special prizes on offer, Miss Elegance and Best Gown. Layne was selected as Miss Intelligence and also won the prize for Best Costume. Precious Garcia, representing Club Deja Vous, was voted Miss Amity.
Valentine's night was celebrated in a special way with roses given out by the committee to lucky patrons in the crowd.
CCC Chairman, Ramchand Rajbal Maraj, thanked the many sponsors for supporting the queen pageant in 2015. Main queen sponsors were Liam Tech Construction, Advanced Colour Shop, Power Pulse, Club Deja Vous, KS Chinpire Contracting Services, Councillor Allan "Taxi" Seepersad, Trinsulate2 Caribbean and New India Assurance.
