As Alta prepares for annual student registration on September 8 and 9 at libraries across Trinidad, we revisit the message of our anti-stigma campaign: No shame. Go brave. You can read, by sharing writing from students who benefited from the Alta programme this past year. This week, three students write about the impact Alta has had on their job and personal progress.

Alta has helped me in several ways. Such as in work. It helps me to read books and to be brave in what I do in my job. It encouraged me to speak to my boss in a proper manner. I can do more tasks in my job that requires me to read and write. So when I come to class I am committed.
I appreciate what our sponsors are doing to keep Alta class running. You can do billboard and TV ad to create more awareness for people in the workplace. Alta can encourage teachers to empower students to come to class to be better in everyday affairs and to be a better person and better citizen.

Because of Alta's programmes throughout T&T, many people who couldn't read or barely could, were given the opportunity to improve themselves. For instance, I am now able to write a short story, help my grandchildren with their homework. You'll be able to understand clearly why vowels depending where it is placed in a syllable have two sounds, and the part of speech. More students should take up the invitation to attend Alta classes.
To the sponsors we thank you for what you have done and continue to do for the individuals as their families and lives are now improved and the country has reaped the rewards. There's a saying that there's nothing greater in one's life that to pass on to others what one has learnt for oneself. It has been a great help to the less fortunate in the society.

Just knowing that someone else is interested in my education makes me feel good coming to Alta class. It makes me want to invite people to come to Alta class. I am sure when you come to Alta class you will learn plenty work. Alta helps me in many ways. It helps me to read books. I can now break up my words and that helps me with my school work. Thanking Alta and the quiet sponsors for making my dream come true.
