InterClub holds Christmas luncheon
The InterClub of T&T held its November Monthly Meeting and Christmas Luncheon at the TamNak Thai Restaurant, Queen’s Park East, Port-of-Spain, on Friday, November 17. Among the many items discussed was the upcoming International Women’s Day which is scheduled for March 8, 2018.
The club and its members look forward to this day every year and also the celebrations organised by the various women’s organisations. Next year will be no exception.
While the T&T Government acknowledges this day, celebrations over the years have been low-keyed and limited to efforts by individuals and some groups. There are media references and statements by the women’s movement and the Minister, Office of the Prime Minister Gender and Child Affairs.
As it moves forward with its plan for 2018, the club is attempting to broaden the scope of its recognition of this special day so that significant discussions on the current status of women in T&T could become a national conversation which it plans to sponsor.
Several organisations have pledged support which the Club welcomes and simply wishes at this time to thank its contributors for the interest shown in the work of the Club and its 20 NGO members who work across T&T helping the less fortunate.
The club’s message to the nation was simply “May the Joy of Christmas be shared with all across the land of Trinidad and Tobago and the world.”
