A shoot­ing in Clax­ton Bay on Fri­day night has left one man dead and two oth­ers in­jured.

The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Mar­cus Williams, 44, of San Fa­bi­en Road, Gas­par­il­lo. The in­jured are Joseph Mollineau, 38, of Fifth Com­pa­ny Vil­lage, Moru­ga, and Christo­pher To­b­by, 52, of Dump Road, Clax­ton Bay.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent oc­curred around 7.05 pm at Dump Road, Clax­ton Bay, in­side a wood­en shed where the men were lim­ing.

A wit­ness told po­lice Williams, Mollineau, and To­b­by were in­side the shed when two uniden­ti­fied men armed with firearms emerged from a dump truck and opened fire.

Wit­ness­es ran and im­me­di­ate­ly alert­ed the po­lice.

When of­fi­cers ar­rived, they found Williams ly­ing face down in a pool of blood, with mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors, WPC Sama­roo and WPC Cadette, re­trieved 12 spent 9 mm cas­ings and one live 9 mm round from the scene.

Williams was killed on the spot, while Mollineau and To­b­by were rushed to the Cou­va Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty with as­sis­tance from PRD Se­cu­ri­ty Ser­vices per­son­nel.

Mollineau was trans­ferred to San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for fur­ther treat­ment, and To­b­by re­mained in sta­ble con­di­tion un­til late yes­ter­day at Cou­va Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty.

Ag In­sp Stew­art, Sgt Fran­cis, In­sp Ma­haraj, Sgt Smith, and oth­er mem­bers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tion Re­gion Three, vis­it­ed the scene. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
