Fourteen people have been arrested by officers of the Major Operations Unit (MOU) for Breach of Covid-19 Regulations during anti-crime exercise conducted in the Northern Division.
The exercise was coordinated by acting Supt Ramkhelawan, headed by acting Insp Boodhoo and supervised by acting Senior Supt Gordon, acting Cpl Ali and PC Hall.
Based on information received and surveillance conducted during the hours of 1 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday, officers proceeded to two restaurants, one in Tacarigua and one in El Dorado and then to a bar located in Tacarigua.
Twenty five cases of alcoholic beverages and a quantity of cash used for illegal gaming were seized.
Fourteen people were arrested.
Those arrested range from the ages of 19 to 63.
Three of those arrested were also charged with operating an illegal gaming house and one person has been charged with selling intoxicating liquor without a licence.
