The three unions joined in solidarity yesterday at a press conference at NUGFW headquarters, Henry Street, Port-of-Spain, to express their discontent at the offer made. NUGFW president James Lambert said the unions joined as one to take part in wage negotiation talks for daily paid workers for the period 2008-2010.
Lambert said on November 26 they met with CPO representative Gadraj Singh and were offered the same zero per cent wage increase offered to the Public Services Association.
He said the unions rejected the offer and were then given a final offer of five per cent, which also was rejected. Lambert said the unions were calling on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to engage in talks with the unions to bring a hasty closure to negotiations.
