Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport Rudy Indarsingh is promising to make life easier for nationals importing dogs. Indarsingh said he planned to liaise with relevant authorities and the Minister of Food Production to reduce the red tape involved in importing the animals.
He was addressing the opening of the Purina dog show at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, on Sunday. The event was hosted by the Federation for Canine Registration of T&T. Indarsingh said he understood bureaucracy had been affecting the local dog industry which generated millions of dollars in revenue and employment.
He said T&T also produced several world class dog shows. Indarsingh said the federation was looking to get recognition from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs so the organisation could pursue competitions at an international level. Minister of the People and Social Development Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh, a vet, was also present at the event.
