Roy Anthony "Korean" Rosales will never get to renew his wedding vows next week Friday with his wife, Diane, so that they can celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary. Rosales, 52, a fabricator and father of three, was shot dead yesterday in an attempted robbery at his home on Upper Philip Charles Road in Petit Valley. Rosales rushed to shield his wife, Diane, from gunmen, but was was shot once in the back.
His killing pushed the murder toll to 452.
Police investigators said Rosales and his family were asleep when two masked gunmen stormed his house around 2.30 am. The intruders said it was a hold-up. One of the suspects reportedly made advances to his wife, Diane. Rosales intervened and was shot.
The robbers fled the scene on foot. Relatives immediately notified the police. The body was viewed by the district medical officer who ordered it removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy. There were no arrests up to late yesterday as investigators continued investigations.
In an interview at the family's home yesterday, relatives who asked not to be identified, said Rosales shielded his wife when gunmen shoved her on the ground. "She started to pray because she was a Catholic," a relative said. "He put himself between them and the gunmen shot him. He did what any husband would do. They were going to renew their wedding vows on the day of their anniversary."
