Former pilot Captain Vaman Bajnath, who has been appointed chairman of the Board of the Airports Authority of T&T, says the first priority for the board will be to get in and get familiar with the airports. Bajnath and nine other board members received their instruments of appointment yesterday from Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner during a ceremony at the authority's administration centre, Piarco.
Bajnath said: "It is vital we raise our standards to become competitive in a global environment as we aim to attract more business and open up more business opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago. "First of all, the first thing any board should do is get in and see the contents of the airport. By contents I mean, evaluate what is happening now, look at the past and see where it's going. "From there on, start getting into the life of the organisation."
