A busi­ness­man shot a thief who was at­tempt­ing to rob him at his busi­ness place in Wood­brook on Wednes­day night. Po­lice said a 19-year-old sus­pect, held in Ch­agua­nas hours af­ter, re­mained ward­ed at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mt Hope. A re­port said three men en­tered the store around mid­night and an­nounced a hold-up. The busi­ness­man drew his li­censed re­volver and shot one of the thieves in the shoul­der.

The rob­bers fled the scene in a wait­ing white Ti­da mo­tor car. Of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force re­spond­ed and saw the car in Tu­na­puna. Po­lice even­tu­al­ly caught up with the car near the Chase Vil­lage Fly­over in Ch­agua­nas af­ter a high-speed chase from Tu­na­puna. Two of the sus­pects fled the scene on foot, while the man who was wound­ed was held. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
