It has been three days and Coast Guard officers are yet to find the body of Tricia Gobindass who disappeared while swimming at Mayaro beach on Monday. Police said divers and patrol teams resumed the search yesterday but were unable to find the body. Relatives also hired boats and searched the seas. Several friends and relatives also combed the shoreline but were they were unsuccessful.
Up to 3.30 pm yesterday, Mayaro Police said the search was discontinued. Gobindass, 23, of Riversdale, Williamsville, is believed to have drowned around 12.30 pm on Monday after experiencing difficulties in the water. She reportedly went to the beach with her sister, Krissy, 20, and their friend Anthony Hospedales, 31, when tragedy struck.
Investigators said both girls began experiencing difficulties in the water but Hospedales managed to save Krissy. When he jumped back into the water for Gobindass, she had disappeared. PC Byneal, of the Mayaro Police Station, is continuing investigations.
