A 47-year-old man ac­cused of wound­ing his ten-year-old step­son and at­tempt­ing to mur­der his com­mon-law wife was grant­ed $90,000 bail yes­ter­day.

Roland Ju­lian, 47, ap­peared be­fore Deputy Chief Mag­is­trate Mark Welling­ton in the San Fer­nan­do First Court, charged with ma­li­cious wound­ing and at­tempt­ed mur­der. The of­fences al­leged­ly took place on De­cem­ber 12 at Ju­lian's home at See­lal Av­enue, Clax­ton Bay. It is al­leged that his com­mon-law wife Bet­ty James was beat­en on the head with a gas tank and stabbed in the chest.

Her son was al­leged­ly pushed in­to a glass case, re­sult­ing in his head smash­ing the glass. He al­so re­ceived a wound to the foot. Ju­lian's at­tor­ney De­bra James made an ap­pli­ca­tion for bail. The mat­ter was ad­journed to De­cem­ber 28. (SW)
