Former Miss World, Giselle LaRonde-West was among the outstanding karatekas at the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation of T&T (SKIFTT) national tournament at the dojo December 13. Laronde-West shared the Samurai Cup award for the athlete upholding the essence of karate-do with Dr Renee Sandy.
Adam Tang Nian was adjudged the most outstanding karateka at the tournament. He received the Guardian Holdings Challenge Trophy as his award. In the finals, 30 karatekas competed with judges coming from Goshindo Karate Dojo led by 6th Dan Sensei Anthony Sydney and his professional black belt referees, including Marissa Sydney who is the highest ranked female referee in T&T.
