A La Brea labourer awoke to the sound of gunfire outside his home yesterday and later discovered that an unknown gunman had fired upon his car. Police said at around 11 pm, Rajesh Samaroo, 32, of La Brea, was asleep when he heard several loud explosions. Believing they were firecrackers, Samaroo went back to sleep.
When he got up around 5.20 am, however, he discovered bullet holes on his brown Honda Civic. Police visited the scene and recovered spent shells. Samaroo told police that he did not know whether the shots were stray bullets, or whether they were meant as a message for him. Investigations are continuing.
