Bag-of-Music in Laventille
Bag-of-Music was the surprise act when Redemption Christian Centre, Espinet Street, Laventille hosted their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, on December 17. In keeping with the Christmas Season, the paranderos performed a medley of songs including I Love Jesus and Joy to the World. Decked in her red dress, hostess Cindy Richards-Gill had everyone curious about the Bag-of-Music. But from the moment they hit the stage, prettied up with poinsettias, the curious stares turned to applause. The parang band was armed with traditonal parang instruments like chac chacs, cuatros and toc toc.
Among them were Ken Sandy, Edmund Hinkson, Steve Campbell and Renaldo Williams. Having overcome the curiousity, the congregation clapped and sang along as the Christ Child was venerated. Apart from Bag-of-Music, Vicktoria Gill, daughter of pastor Dr Victor Gill, performed a solo. Among the other members of the congregation who blessed hearts in song were Unica Bain, Rhea Fong, Renee Gentle, Renelle Martin, Sherwin Smith and former calypsonian Monique Hector. Brother Kevin Martin led everyone in prayer. Offstage, people sang Joy To The World The Lord Is Come.
