In what can be described as historical, Christopher Chinapoo was recently appointed to an integral committee in the American Correctional Association (ACA). The appointment represents groundbreaking developments for T&T as Chinapoo is the first Caribbean national that has been called to serve at such a level in that particular field. Chinapoo, who is also the Adviser on Quality Assurance, Research and Organisational Development for the Association of Caribbean Heads of Corrections and Prison Services was appointed to both the International Relations Committee and the Research Council.
Given his expertise, Chinapoo is expected to facilitate the quality improvement of corrections throughout the Caribbean region by facilitating research and development and technical cooperation in areas of quality assurance. Also, through research and by advocacy on the policy level to address issues facing the Caribbean in relation to deportation. Both committees are authorised by the ACA board of directors as they seek to provide advice on corrections and law enforcement guiding correctional policy formulation and implementation at the level of the United States Congress.
