Government is moving to finalise an arrangement to "adequately compensate" sacked chief executive officer of state-owned Caribbean Airlines Ltd, Ian Brunton. So said Attorney General Anand Ramlogan during yesterday's post-Cabinet news briefing at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann's.
He did not give details. Brunton was fired last month by the CAL board which is led by businessman George Nicholas. Ramlogan said he received a letter from Brunton, who had threatened legal action against the airline, indicating that he was now prepared to "move on to greener pastures."
Ramlogan added: "We have agreed to finalise an arrangement that will adequately compensate Mr Brunton and recognise him for his long, loyal and dedicated service to this country and the airline industry." Ramlogan said Brunton "has indicated a desire to move on with his career." Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner, who is the line minister for Caribbean Airlines (CAL), said Brunton would be paid all his outstanding emoluments.
