A 24-year-old Laven­tille man, ac­cused of shoot­ing a se­cu­ri­ty guard dur­ing a rob­bery at Cross Cross­ing su­per­mar­ket, has been de­nied bail.Sel­wyn John­son, al­so called Gayvon John­son, 24, of Laven­tille, was de­nied bail on Tues­day when he ap­peared be­fore Sec­ond Court Mag­is­trate Roger Ram­goolam charged with sev­en of­fences, in­clud­ing rob­bery.

John­son, who was ar­rest­ed by PC Nar­ine Bis­nath, was charged with pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of six rounds of am­mu­ni­tion with in­tent to en­dan­ger lives, dis­charg­ing a firearm with­in 40 me­tres of a pub­lic road and pos­ses­sion of a pis­tol with in­tent to en­dan­ger lives.

He al­so was charged with rob­bing Li Yuan Chen of $70,000.John­son al­so was charged with wound­ing se­cu­ri­ty guard Bisham Pysadee with in­tent to cause griev­ous bod­i­ly harm.All of­fences were al­leged to have tak­en place on De­cem­ber 16 at Cross Cross­ing, San Fer­nan­do.Po­lice pros­e­cu­tor Sgt Dawn Wells ob­ject­ed to bail. She said John­son had a pend­ing mat­ter for ma­li­cious wound­ing. The pros­e­cu­tor said Pysadee re­mained ward­ed at hos­pi­tal. John­son will reap­pear in court on Jan­u­ary 7.
