A 24-year-old Laventille man, accused of shooting a security guard during a robbery at Cross Crossing supermarket, has been denied bail.Selwyn Johnson, also called Gayvon Johnson, 24, of Laventille, was denied bail on Tuesday when he appeared before Second Court Magistrate Roger Ramgoolam charged with seven offences, including robbery.
Johnson, who was arrested by PC Narine Bisnath, was charged with possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm, possession of six rounds of ammunition with intent to endanger lives, discharging a firearm within 40 metres of a public road and possession of a pistol with intent to endanger lives.
He also was charged with robbing Li Yuan Chen of $70,000.Johnson also was charged with wounding security guard Bisham Pysadee with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.All offences were alleged to have taken place on December 16 at Cross Crossing, San Fernando.Police prosecutor Sgt Dawn Wells objected to bail. She said Johnson had a pending matter for malicious wounding. The prosecutor said Pysadee remained warded at hospital. Johnson will reappear in court on January 7.
