Terrance Mitchell was killed because he ventured into an area considered unsafe for residents of Sea Lots. That's the view of relatives of the 24-year-old father of one, who was working along Picton Road, Laventille, picking up garbage when he was shot by gunmen at around 8.30 am yesterday. Mitchell was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died.
"It was because he was from Sea Lots. People from Sea Lots can't go in certain areas," said Mitchell's aunt, Simone Bridgeman. Bridgeman said even though Mitchell was not well educated, he worked hard to maintain a good life for his family. "He fought until he got two jobs. He worked hard to take care of his son but people have this idea that if you from Sea Lots you bad," she said.
