Panmen are rejecting proposals made by Arts and Multiculturalism Minister Winston Peters for the upcoming Panorama competition. Members of Pan Trinbago met with panmen at City Hall in Port-of-Spain on Thursday evening and passed a resolution against Peters' offer on the table. Pan Trinbago's president Keith Diaz claims the minister had noted that Cabinet had approved a decision to give a $2million prize to the winner of Panorama while reducing the stipend to each performing player from $1,000 to $800.
After Thursday's three-hour meeting, the resolution which had three sections, was passed. The resolution called for an apology by the minister for several statements attributed to him, for his lack of respect for panmen and for his indiscretion. They also want the reinstatement of $1,000 as the minimum consideration for each player. The third part calls for the rejection of the $2 million for the winner of Panorama which is offered inkeeping with the People's Partnership's promise and further resolve that allocations of 2010 be the same for 2011.
