The Employers' Consultative Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ECA) yesterday paid tribute to the late Sir Ellis Clarke, saying he "will always be remembered as a role model and gentleman in every respect." In expressing its deepest sympathy to the family and the nation on the death of Sir Ellis, this country's first President, the ECA noted his contribution to the development of T&T's first constitution.
The association recalled that he shared "the wealth of his experience as a Governor and the vision of a statesman who continued to be dedicated to the process and execution of democracy during and after his tenure in government. "Notwithstanding the wealth of his knowledge and stature he had a sense of humility and was always ready to serve wherever necessary," the ECA added.
