Grena­da Gov­er­nor Gen­er­al Sir Car­lyle Glean who at­tend­ed the State fu­ner­al for Sir El­lis Clarke at the Na­tion­al Acad­e­my for the Per­form­ing Arts in Port-of-Spain (NA­PA), said re­la­tions be­tween his coun­try and T&T were too close to stay away. Glean spoke with the T&T Guardian short­ly af­ter the ser­vice.

"Giv­en the num­ber of Grena­di­ans liv­ing in T&T, we felt that Grena­da had to be rep­re­sent­ed at the fu­ner­al. So Trinidad and To­ba­go and Grena­da, we're very close in terms of the two peo­ples," the Gov­er­nor Gen­er­al said.

He said he was con­sid­ered to be the best Grena­di­an rep­re­sen­ta­tive to at­tend the fu­ner­al be­cause of the sta­tus of Sir El­lis, the last Gov­er­nor Gen­er­al and first Pres­i­dent of T&T. Sir Car­lyle de­scribed Sir El­lis as "an out­stand­ing ju­rist, lawyer and states­man. So he's some­one I look up­on as an icon and an out­stand­ing ex­em­plar."
