As fate would have it, Lutchmedial changed his flight plans. He opted not to board American Airlines flight 880 to Haiti from Miami on the Tuesday morning. Instead he took the afternoon flight. Gregory was already checked in at the Montana Hotel where Lutchmedial was also expected to stay. Lutchmedial said it was the most unforgettable experience in his life. He returned to Trinidad three days after the devastation. He said today (Wednesday) he hoped to find a place of solace to reflect and contemplate. "I still have a deep sense of anguish over what happened...the number of people who lost their lives right before my eyes," he said. "I feel as though it was yesterday it all happened. "The images are still fresh in my mind," 58-year-old Lutchmedial said. Lutchmedial said his life has changed in the last year. "I have learned to appreciate life a lot more and to cherish the people around me who belong to my circle of love," he said.
