Hours after a company truck crashed into a lightpole, employee Colin Humphrey, 22, succumbed to his injuries at the San Fernando General Hospital. Humphrey, of Palo Seco, died around 9.45 pm on Wednesday while his colleague, Sheldon Leiba, 24, the driver of the truck, is warded in a serious condition. Police said around 3 pm Leiba, who is employed with Samaroo's Material and General Ltd, was driving a white three-tonne truck along the SS Erin Road, Palo Seco. Humphrey was the lone passenger.
Upon reaching Rancho Quemado, Leiba attempted to negotiate a corner and crashed into an electricity pole. Under the supervision of Ag Fire Sub Officer Mahadeo, firefighters, of the Siparia Fire Station, responded and rendered aid to the injured men. Petrotrin emergency services also responded and rushed the men to the hospital. Ag Cpl Ganesh, of the Santa Flora Police Station, is investigating.
