A La Brea resident, accused of raping and buggering an 11-year-old schoolgirl nine years ago, was acquitted of both charges yesterday. Samuel "Sammy" Stuart, 36, walked out of the San Fernando Supreme Court a free man. After one-and-a-half hours of deliberation the nine-member jury, consisting of three women and six men, returned the not guilty verdicts in Stuart's favour.
San Fernando Third Assizes judge Hayden St Clair-Douglas, following the jury's verdict, told Stuart: "You are free to go." He was charged with having sex with a female under the age of 14 and buggering her on a date unknown in 2002 at La Brea.
