The body of slain security guard Patricia Duncan will be flown to Guyana for the funeral service and burial. This was disclosed yesterday by David McMillan, her common-law husband. Duncan, 43, a Guyanese national, of Laventille Road, San Juan, was allegedly chopped about the neck by another security guard on Monday morning at National Fisheries in Sea Lots. A 47-year-old suspect was up to late yesterday in police custody.
Police said that on Sunday, Duncan and a man got into an argument around 5 pm. The man left the compound and returned the next day around 11.30 am. He then took out a cutlass and Duncan was chopped on the neck. She was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she was treated and warded. She had been listed in critical condition, police said. She succumbed to her injuries around 6.30 pm on Monday. Duncan had been employed with Strike Force Security Co.
Sgt Franks of the Besson Street Police Station is continuing investigations. In an interview at the Forensic Science Centre yesterday, McMillan said: "She was looking for a better life and she wanted to finish our house. "She worked every day from Monday to Friday...My wife didn't deserve that," he added. He said he last saw Duncan on Monday morning before she left for work around 4.30 am. McMillan described Duncan as a "church-going, quiet and peaceful woman." When contacted, officials at Strike Force Security Company said Duncan was a "hard-worker."
