Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said an acting interim director will be sought for the Strategic Services Agency (SSA). The Prime Minister said so while speaking with reporters at the Vision on Mission's second annual awards ceremony and inauguration of its board of directors at Queen's Hall, Port-of-Spain, on Monday night."We are looking at taking the process forward to find an acting interim SSA director," she said.
"This will be discussed further in Parliament on Friday...We want to ensure what happened, never happens again."This will allow us a longer period of time in which we can get the best person for the job."Government will make a statement in Parliament on Friday about this matter."
She said, however, that this did not rule out the possibility that it would be approved by Members of Parliament.Persad-Bissessar said it would take longer to make constitutional changes concerning permanent arrangements."We cannot wait another year at this point in time, and we want to ensure that the mishap that was made, does not ever happen again," she said."I do believe we have to do some research pertaining to security arrangements in that regard."As a young government, we have a lot to learn with respect to this particular incident. "On the part of the Government, there is always room for improvement."
