Former prime minister Arthur NR Robinson, said he could not remember a member of the National Alliance for Reconstruction's (NAR) A-Team, Dennis Cornwall, telling him that there was going to be a takeover of the country. Robinson made the disclosure yesterday in response to questions by the Commission of Enquiry into the 1990 coup d'etat. Commission deputy chairman Sir Richard Cheltenham asked the question based on evidence given by former NAR parliamentarian, Rawle Raphael on Monday, that Cornwall and others told him that the Jamaat al Muslimeen was going to stage an uprising.
Raphael said he took it as a big joke and told the men to report it to then national security minister, Selwyn Richardson, and Robinson. He said as far as he was aware, Robinson was told. Raphael, on Monday, after being probed by commission chairman, Sir David Simmons, disclosed that Jamaat al Muslimeen member, Lance Small, purportedly involved in the bombing of John F Kennedy Airport, was a member of the NAR's A-Team. He said Small was one of the people who told him that the Muslimeen were going to stage an insurrection..
