Once more, Peters pledged his allegiance to the art form and the fraternity which is more than 100 years old. "The fraternity is an ageing one. We have to put things in place to steel ourselves. Regardless of what I do, calypso is from whence I came. In order for me to do that, you must first help yourselves."
Trinbago Calypsonians Organisation president Lutalo Masimba described Conqueror as "a warrior in song who touched spirits and hearts." Slipping into rapso mode, he said: "When we assemble/we celebrate the power/that was Leroy Paul."
Mourners' list
Among those who gathered to pay tribute to Paul were his loved ones, including his wife, Dolly, children Rhea, Ava, Miguel, Suzzette, Anthony and Karen. Also among those who mourned Paul were his pastor Anthony Quimby and Bishop Garvin Garraway who delivered the homily, calling on the citizenry to respect the culture and return to traditional family values.
