As civil unrest in Egypt continues Foreign Affairs Minister, Surujrattan Rambachan, yesterday announced the Government had made arrangements to bring the stranded T&T nationals home. He said: "We are in contact with them and they are okay." Rambachan said of the 22 nationals trapped five, who possessed United States passports, had already left the country for the United States.
He added: "We have arranged flights for the remaining 17 and they all should arrive in Trinidad by Monday. Two are set to arrive on Saturday and the rest on Monday."Tickets were difficult to find but through the hard work of our ambassador to Uganda, Patrick Edwards, a local travel agent, and even through my searching, we were able to find transport for our nationals," he said. Rambachan added the total cost of the transport from Egypt to Trinidad was $200,000, approximately $11,500 a person. "Wherever T&T citizens are in distress, we will be there to help," he added.
