A 20-year-old man will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with seven traffic-related offences in connection with the death of businessman Ramon Naim Sabga. Sabga, 70, was killed in a vehicular accident on Friday night on Alexander Street, St Clair. A report said around 11.40 pm Sabga was driving his BMW west along St Clair Avenue when a white Mitsubishi wagon, heading north on Alexander Street, slammed into his car. The car flipped twice and crashed into a concrete wall outside the Ministry of Education.
He died on the spot. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, police said. Officers of the St Clair Police Station responded and conducted investigations. The man was charged late yesterday evening with driving without a permit, driving without insurance, driving without the owner's consent, driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to stop after an accident to render assistance, failure to report an accident and negligent driving, causing death.
