In adding his contribution to the session, chairman of the EOC professor John La Guerre said that it was by no means an easy task to bring about equality in the few years of independence we had in T&T.He reflected on the history of discrimination with which the Caribbean has had to endure at the hands of its many colonialists and noted that while obstacles to equal opportunity exist, there were institutions, like the EOC, which continued to show great promise in its promotion.La Guerre concluded his discourse and by extension, the morning's proceedings with these words: "Without equality of opportunity, we cannot be sure that the resources of a particular society, generated both by those who hold capital and those who are responsible for employing people, will find their most productive uses."
