Stag beer has launched its very own BlackBerry application. The free application launched last week provides users with an up-to-date fete calendar, free wallpapers for their phones and photos from parties during the Carnival season. In an interview yesterday, marketing manager of Stag, Shane Ramjit, explained that the freebie was part of the company's new marketing approach. "This is our way of giving back something to our consumers," he said.
"We have decided to supplement the brand's traditional advertising through using popular technology."
Ramjit said that the application would put Stag in forefront of T&T's digital community. BlackBerry users can download the application through BlackBerry bar codes that are currently displayed on Stag's advertisements and promotional material. Also, it can be downloaded through the company's Web site and viral BlackBerry broadcasts that are currently circulating. Ramjit says the fete calendar the application provides is updated daily and includes all Carnival activities and parties.
"All fetes are listed, not just those that are sponsored by Stag, so it is comprehensive," he said. When asked about the lifespan of the application, Ramjit said it would continue after Carnival. "The application will continue throughout the year," he said. "We are planning to add to the application's features by allowing users to download free ringtones, jokes and other useful information.
"The response so far has been excellent with over 5,000 downloads in the first few days of launching it.
"Many of the users have commented that the application is very sophisticated as compared to similar technology emanating from T&T." The application was built and designed for Stag by a local company, Simply Intense Media.
