Minister of Food Production, Land and Marine Affairs Vasant Bharath, along with members of staff of his ministry, has expressed condolences to the family and friends of the late Norris Deonarine.The ministry expressed its sympathy in a media release yesterday.Deonarine, who was the Education and Research Officer of the National Foodcrop Farmers Association (NFFA), was recently appointed to serve as a director on the board of the Agricultural Development Bank.
The release described Deonarine as the foremost spokesman of the foodcrop farmers in T&T and commented that he had dedicated his life to the development of the agricultural sector.The Banking, Insurance and General Workers Union (BIGWU) also sent out condolences, describing Deonarine as a staunch defender of the interests and rights of farmers in T&T.BIGWU also called on the National Foodcrop Farmers Association to continue the struggle for farmers' welfare which had been led by Deonarine for more than 20 years.
