Two shot dead by police during robbery
Two men were killed in a shoot-out with police shortly after robbing a bakery in Chaguanas on Friday. Police are searching for a third suspect whom they believe was injured in the incident. Up to late yesterday, police had not revealed the identity of the dead men. The incident took place around 5 pm at Endeavour Road. A report stated that three men armed with guns, robbed two employees and the owner of Bakery Treats of an undisclosed sum of cash, jewelry and cellphones.
The police spotted the men as they were running from the crime scene and there was an exchange of gun fire. One of the men died on the spot while the second man succumbed to his injuries at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. The third man escaped. The police have asked all medical institutions to be on the alert for a man seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. Police recovered a firearm at the scene and Chaguanas police are investigating.
