Two Trinidadians and a Jamaican man, charged with the possession of $8.4 million worth of cocaine, were refused bail when they were taken before a Port-of-Spain magistrate. Sherwin Williams, 46, Dave Fletcher, 44, both of Arima, and Jamaican Dwayne Knights, 30, stood before Senior Magistrate Lucina Cardenas-Ragoonanan who read the charge on Monday. They were represented by attorney Vincent Charles.
They were not called upon to plead as the charge was laid indictably. And despite the plea from Charles, the magistrate said she was not willing to entertain an application for bail. Cardenas-Ragoonanan, presiding in the Fourth (A) Court, transferred the matter to an Arima magistrate. The accused were allegedly held with the narcotics, estimated to be 22 kilos, at a house at "The Crossings," Tumpuna Road, Arima.
