Several CCN TV6 cameramen and reporters received suspension letters when they showed up for work yesterday after they failed to report for duty the previous day.T&T Guardian was told that the assignments editor, four cameramen and five reporters were suspended without pay.The letters were signed by group corporate services manager Gregory Camejo.
Information received on Wednesday revealed that the newsroom received a letter from management stating that all over time had to be pre-approved by the general manager as a means of cost-cutting measures.The ten disgruntled workers subsequently staged sick-out action Thursday and on arriving on the job yesterday were informed in writing that they were suspended for one week.Contacted yesterday, group head of news Dominic Kallipersad said "It would be inappropriate for me to comment since this is an industrial relations matter."
